Amazon CEO Andy Jassy posted a clear and strong message yesterday to employees opposed to the reinstatement of the five-day work-from-the-plant policy. Here are the highlights:
Improved culture: Jacy emphasized the importance of being in the office in reinforcing Amazon culture, saying that working together in the office improves collaboration, learning and teamwork she believes that it reinforces the production of new Amazonian cultures.
Effective collaboration: Jaci expressed how having a physical presence in the office seamlessly facilitates intellectual collaboration, teaching and learning. He argues that these tasks are more difficult in a remote location.
Increasing accountability: The five-day workweek will increase ownership and decision-making at all levels, eliminating redundant management and management positions, which it plans to reduce by 15%.
Exemptions for Extenuating Circumstances: During the complexity of the program, there will be allowances for special cases such as health information or exemptions for approved telecommuting, but telecommuting two days a week will no longer be the norm.
Focus on speed and simplicity: The move is part of a broader effort to streamline operations, simplify processes and enable faster decision-making by pushing authority closer to the point of operation
This policy is one of the strongest return-to-work orders in the post-pandemic industry.
